From May 20th to 25th, the PaMAR project held a dynamic week of in-person activities on Fogo Island.
A key highlight was the Climate Resilience Workshop, which brought together 30 stakeholders from Cabo Verde’s marine conservation institutions, civil society organisations, and coastal communities across the project’s six focal islands.
Facilitated by Dr. Anyse Pereira and Dr Ana Nuno, the workshop served as a platform to present findings from the Climate Vulnerability and Capacity Analysis previously conducted in 13 coastal communities and to carry out a participatory climate risk assessment.
Discussions also focused on potential climate resilience strategies to be integrated into Marine Protected Areas’ (MPAs) management plan proposals, and livelihood adaptation strategies tailored to the socio-economic, ecological and geographic contexts of the various islands.
In parallel, consortium partners made the most of their time together on one island to collaborate with project consultants and the F&F team to prepare upcoming project activities, reinforcing PaMAR’s commitment to inclusive and sustainable coastal development along with marine conservation and strengthening Cabo Verde’s important network of MPAs.
